Clarke in Victoria
April 14, 2012
After 13 years as a
computer analyst in British Columbia,
I quit my job, went back to college, and earned a TEFL (Teaching English as a
Foreign Language) Certificate.
In June 2003 I started a
one-year contract to teach English at a private language school in Jakarta, Indonesia.
I discovered that I actually enjoyed teaching English. From July 2004
until July 2007 I taught English in Mexico. I was in a sleepy little
resort town called La Crucecita, in Bahias de Huatulco. It was
a beautiful place on Oaxacas
coast with many small quiet beaches. I found this area very relaxing and I
really enjoyed living there but all good things must come to an end.
I'm now back in Victoria, BC, working as a computer analyst again
but I plan to take an early retirement and return to teaching and travel
